Product description of FAG Bearing 2314-M

Due to the curved raceway on the outer ring, self-aligning ball bearings are tolerant of misalignment between the shaft and housing and deflections of the shaft. They can thus compensate static and dynamic angular defects within certain angular limits in a rotating shaft system.

In the self-aligning ball bearing, two rows of rolling elements are supported in two raceway grooves in the inner ring. The raceway on the outer ring has a curved form. The cage combines the two rows of balls and the inner ring to form a unit that can align itself by snivelling relative to the outer ring.

They are used particularly in sectors such as agricultural machinery, conveying equipment, simple woodworking machinery and ventilators.

Self-aligning ball bearings are better suited to higher speeds on account of their point contact, than barrel roller bearings with line contact. The bearings run more quietly and at lower temperatures than bearings with comparable specified characteristics.

FAG Bearing 2314-M Technical information on FAG Self-aligning ball bearings

Self-aligning ball bearings are particularly suitable: • if there is skewing between the outer and inner ring (for the compensation of angular misalignment) • for bearing arrangements with high radial loads • for higher speeds on account of their point contact, than barrel roller bearings with line contact • where bearings with the above-mentioned characteristics are expected to run more quietly and at lower temperatures, even at high speeds

Description of FAG Bearing 2314-M, Self-aligning ball bearings This FAG double-row self-aligning ball bearing is unsealed and has a cylindrical bore, brass cage, normal clearance, and P6 precision. It is suitable for applications that support radial and oscillating axial loads and angular misalignment between the shaft and housing due to shaft deflections or mounting errors. It has low-alloy through-hardened chromium steel races and bearing balls for increased wear and fatigue resistance, and a straight bore for fitting on a conventional cylindrical shaft. The bearing is open on both sides for lubricating the bearing in place and has a brass cage to prevent the balls from coming into contact with each other during use, reducing friction, vibration, and noise. The bearing has a normal radial internal clearance designation, making it suitable for applications where thermal expansion is not a factor. This bearing has a dimensional and running accuracy to tolerance class P6 in accordance with Deutsches Institut für Normung (DIN) 620-2 for a higher level of precision than bearings manufactured to normal tolerances and is suitable for use in commercial and industrial applications including film processing equipment, office automation, vertical spinning equipment, and industrial counter-shafts, among others.

FAG Bearing 2314-M, Rolling bearings use rolling elements to maintain the separation between moving parts to reduce rotational friction and support radial and axial loads. These elements can be one of the following types: ball, cylindrical, spherical, barrel, needle, spindle, or tapered. All rolling bearings are open, shielded, or sealed. Sealed bearings are lubricated with oil or grease in the bearing factory, while open and shielded bearings are meant to be lubricated in place, with periodic reapplication of lubrication, based on use. The shield protects the working parts of the bearing from environmental debris that may be introduced and could reduce the ball bearing speed and lifespan. Rolling bearings are used in a range of applications from agricultural machinery to conveying equipment, robotics, dental equipment, elevators, rolling mills, ship rudder shafts, and aggregate crushers, among others.

FAG manufactures a variety of bearings that meet International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and Deutsches Institut für Normung (DIN) standards for quality assurance. The company, founded in 1883, is headquartered in Schweinfurt, Germany.
